Eppa Rixey (CIN)

Reds pitcher Eppa Rixey did enough today, both on the mound and at the plate, to beat the first-place New York Giants by himself - he pitched a complete game, giving up 1 run and 6 hits, while going 3-4 at the plate and driving in 3 runs.  While the Reds remain 10.5 games behind the Giants in the National League, Cincinnati has steadily been improving over the last few weeks, pulling themselves well clear of the NL cellar and sitting near the middle of the pack.

With the win today, Rixey moves to 3-1 with a 4.25 ERA for the season.
