Secondbaseman Bobby Doerr was one of three Red Sox players to go deep today, finishing the game 2-5 with three RBI to go along with his home run.  The Red Sox win 12-4, moving to 3-0 for the year, while the Athletics drop to 1-3.

  As you can see on the scoreboards, it was full slate of games today and there were some magnificent performances, particularly on the mound.  The Cubs-Pirates affair could make a strong case for Game of the Day, with the Pirates snagging a run in the bottom of the 8th on a Deb Garms RBI single to seal a one-run victory.  But as you will see below, we are going with a pitcher's duel in Boston for today's honors.
