Some great games today, with two games in the National League going into extra innings.  The highlight of the day was certainly Paul Waner's two-out, game-winning, two-run single in the bottom of the 10th inning to give the Dodgers a win over the New York Giants.

 Yes, I keep starting projects then jumping ships to new ones - what can I say, I have ADD in staying focused on one project.  At the moment, I've been lured back to PC Replay Baseball, which to me is a near perfect implementation of the fantastic cards & dice game Replay Baseball.  My initial plan was to use a thread on the Delphi Forums that I created to post daily and weekly (in replay terms) updates, as I thought that might be quicker and easier than maintaining the blog.  The Delphi Forums, however, are not the most user friendly, so I am going to continue posting their while also linking to the full posts on this blog, which will allow followers to more easily read the screenshots and updates.  So, with that, please follow along as we relive perhaps the most iconic of baseball seasons!

Week in Review - American League (May 6-12, 1929)

  Miraculous, against all odds, the Senators hold on to the top spot in the American League.  I keep assuming that they are going to start to fade, but they simply haven't done so.  The Athletics got within a half game of the Senators earlier in the week but couldn't get any closer.  It feels like the Athletics and the Yankees will start to pull away from the rest of the league, which is what ultimately did happen in 1929, but at the same time the Senators blueprint keeps working - they score early and enough to hang on to leads through the end of games.  Here is the link to the Baseball-Reference page showing the standings at this point in 1929.  You will notice that the Browns are quite underperforming relative to the real-life standings.
