-          Joe DiMaggio is really heating up.  After hitting two triples yesterday, he came back today and went 3-5 with two doubles and four RBI, as the Yankees crushed the Senators 11-1.

-          After pitching a one run complete game just five days ago, Dodgers starter Hugh Casey was even better today, going the distance in a shutout where he allowed only four hits.  The Dodgers battered the Giants 6-0 to move their record to 9-5 on the year.

  As you can see on the scoreboards, it was full slate of games today and there were some magnificent performances, particularly on the mound.  The Cubs-Pirates affair could make a strong case for Game of the Day, with the Pirates snagging a run in the bottom of the 8th on a Deb Garms RBI single to seal a one-run victory.  But as you will see below, we are going with a pitcher's duel in Boston for today's honors.
