Bump Hadley (WSN)

It's not very often that a losing effort is singled out for applause in this Stellar Performances section, but Bump Hadley's no-decision today in Philadelphia deserves recognition.  Hadley gave up a solo home run to slugger Jimmie Foxx in the bottom of the 2nd inning but then completely shut down the vaunted Athletics offense.  Hadley pitched 10 full innings, surrendering only 3 hits and the lone run off of Foxx's longball.  Unfortunately for Hadley, after turning the game over to the bullpen, the A's were able to hit a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the 11th that won them the game.  Despite this great performance, Hadley remains winless on the season at 0-3.

The Senators continue their slide from the top of the AL, now having dropped 6 of their last 7.
