May 28, 1941 (Replay Baseball)

  May 28, 1941 -           The legendary Jimmie Foxx had a big day in Boston, going 3-4 and blasting his fourth home run of the season.   He drove in three runs along the way to move the Red Sox to 21-14 on the year as they try and keep pace with the Yankees and Indians. Jimmie Foxx (Red Sox) -           The St. Louis Cardinals stay red hot, winning their 7 th straight game today by beating the Cubs 5-0.  Starter Ernie White pitched a complete game shutout, giving up only three hits along the way.  With the win, White moves to 3-1 on the year while the Cardinals go to 32-11 and pull 3.5 games ahead of the second-place Brooklyn Dodgers.   May 27, 1941 -           Dodgers second baseman Billy Herman had a huge day in Philadelphia, belting his first two home runs of the season and driving in five runs.   The Dodgers needed all of his RBIs after they blew a lead in the fifth.   Once he launched his second home run (a two-run shot), however, the Dodgers never looked back.   With the win, the Dodgers move to 25-13 on the year and only one game behind the first-place St. Louis Cardinals. Billy Herman (Dodgers) -           It took 13 innings to decide today’s game at the Polo Grounds, but ultimately it was the home Giants who pulled out the win with a walk-off solo home run from shortstop Billy Jurges. May 26, 1941 (Replay Baseball)

  May 26, 1941 -           Indians’ right fielder Jeff Heath had an absolute monster day in Cleveland, going 5-5 with two home runs and a double, and driving in three runs along the way.   Heath is putting together one of the best seasons in the American League, now slashing .379/.444/.593 with four home runs and 27 RBI, and leading the Indians to a 3.5 lead over the second-place Yankees.
