April 19, 1949: Philadelphia Phillies vs. Boston Braves (Game 2)

Boston starter Vern Bickford was even better in the second game of today's doubleheader than Warren Spahn was in the first. Bickford tossed a complete game shutout, striking out 10 while walking only two, as the Braves cruised to sweep the doubleheader.  The game also saw Braves catcher Bill Salkfeld blast a three-run home run in the bottom of the 5th inning to break the scoreless deadlock.
