- The Cincinnati Reds won their sixth straight game today to move one game above .500. Starter Paul Derringer, who has pitched great all season despite his win-loss record, was superb again today, going the distance and allowing one run on five hits. Frank McCormick provided the offense, going 2-4 with two RBI.

Boston Braves starter Manny Salvo pitched a gem
in the second game of a doubleheader today at the Polo Grounds. After the Giants took the first game of the
day, Salvo came back and threw a complete game shutout. The win moves Salvo to 3-3 on the year.
