Miscellaneous Info
As I mentioned in the intro post, I’m currently working
through two separate replays – one playing the Yankees and Reds 1961 seasons
and simulating other games using Digital Diamond Baseball, the other a complete
1929 replay using NPIII/Skeetersoft. I’m
into June in the 1961 season, so I’ve made quite a bit of progress, but I’ve
honestly become completely sidetracked and engrossed in the NPIII system. I didn’t think I would enjoy something more
digital (meaning no cards or something more tactile) like the Skeeterosft
engine, but I absolutely love it. I
still manually roll the dice and enter results, so it remains interactive, and
the system is exciting in its recreation of games. Plus, you can play at such a rapid pace that
a couple of games can be knocked it in a short period. So, this is a bit of a longwinded of making
it known that the 1929 NPIII replay is probably going to take priority for the
foreseeable future. I’m simply having
too much fun with it at the moment to split time between the two replays.
As a bit of background as to setup…I almost always play with
as-played lineups, particularly at this early stage in the season (I’m
currently in the second week). I try not
to be a prisoner to the historical lineups and substitutions, but if I am
making any substitutions I will check to see which relief pitchers or pinch
hitters might have been used in the actual game and if they make some sense in
my replay then I’ll tend to use those substitutions as well. Again, I’m not completely beholden to the history,
but if it appears to be a logical move in my game, I’ll typically defer.
I figured I’d get that out of the way now, so I don’t forget
to do it when I make the first true season post in a few days. Cheers!
