Chick Hafey (STL)

Chick Hafey had a big day in St. Louis, hitting a 2-run home run in the 6th inning and then salvaging a Cardinals victory after St. Louis surrendered the lead in the top of the 9th.  Hafey delivered a walkoff double that scored the winning run and gave the Cardinals the win.  Those were the only two hits from Hafey for the day but the Cardinals needed every one.  Hafey has quietly been having a season that is more than backing up star Jim Bottomley - he now sits at .284/.310/.568 with 9 home runs and 40 RBI.

The Cardinals remain hot, winning 8 out of their last 10 games.  They are4.5 games out of first place, but that is more a result of the Giants being so good.
