Jesse Petty (PIT)

Jesse Petty has quietly been putting together an outstanding season and today was his best outing yet.  Petty, starting for the Pirates today in Brooklyn, pitched a complete game, 4-hit shutout, to move the Pirates over the .500 mark.  Petty, meanwhile, moves to 5-0 with a 2.20 ERA, and is the Pirates ace so far this season.

  Three games today, two of them really-well played, while the White Sox-Senators was a bit of a runaway.  Today finally saw the Cardinals get their first win of the season, in a game where neither starter went particularly deep.  The Cubs lost their first game of the year but will certainly take a 4-1 start.  The Game of the Day, though, featured a matchup of two star starting pitchers.
