Stellar Performances: Chicago White Sox vs. Cleveland Indians (April 22, 1930)

Wes Ferrell (Indians)

It was a true pitcher's duel today in Cleveland, as both starters took shutouts into the 9th inning.  Indians starter Wes Ferrell pitched nine full innings, allowing only four hits and striking out five.  It also was his turn at-bat to lead off the bottom of the 9th inning, but he was pinch hit for by Bibb Falk - who proceeded to blast a pinch-hit walk-off homerun to seal a 1-0 victory for the Indians.  With the win, Cleveland moves to 3-3 on the year, while the White Sox fall to 2-2.
