The first Red Sox-Yankees clash of the season
did not disappoint. There were some incredible
individual performances – Red Sox third baseman Jim Tabor hit two home runs and
drove in four runs; Yankees first baseman Joe Gordon went 4-6 and drove in four
runs himself. Ultimately, however, it
was Yankees’ catcher Bill Dickey who supplied the heroics, blasting a walkoff,
three-run home run in the bottom of the 12th inning for a 9-6
Yankees win.

Dodgers starter Whit Wyatt pitched his second shutout
of the season, going the distance and allowing only four hits. The Dodgers beat the Phillies 4-0 and Wyatt
moved to 3-0 on the young season.

There was a classic at Wrigley Field today. The Cubs lead 4-3 going into the top of the 9th,
but the Reds managed to squeeze a run across to send the game to extra
innings. In the top of the 12th,
Reds centerfielder Harry Craft hit a leadoff, solo home run that got the Reds a
5-4 win.
