-          Star left fielder Joe Medwick hit a walk-off single in the bottom of the 10th inning to get the Dodgers out of a losing streak by claiming a 5-4 win over the visiting Cubs.  Dodgers’ starter Kirby Higbe was cruising, leading 2-0 into the 8th inning, when suddenly the Cubs exploded for 4 runs.  The Dodgers managed to respond and get it to extra innings before Medwick’s heroics sealed the win.  Medwick went 3-5 on the day, driving in five runs.

-          Reds’ starter Paul Derringer has been fantastic all season but was still 0-3 heading into today’s matchup with the Boston Braves.  He pitched another gem to get his first win of the season, going the distance and allowing only four hits.  Surprisingly, he didn’t strike out a single batter but was still nearly unhittable.
