-          The Yankees won their fifth straight game today, beating the Tigers 9-0 and pushing their league-best record to 16-5.  Joe DiMaggio continues to sizzle, hitting three doubles en route to a 4-5 day with four RBI.  Starter Lefty Gomez was dominant on the mound, pitching a complete game shut out and allowing only four hits.

-          The Indians won with another walk-off today, this time from left fielder Jeff Heath.  His two-out single in the bottom of the 9th gave the Indians a 6-5 win over the Senators.  Cleveland’s starter Bob Feller was not as precise as usual, allowing five runs, but he did strike out 13 in the eight innings he worked.
