-          For a second straight day the Indians take a walk-off victory away from the Washington Senators.  Jeff Heath was again involved in the ending – rather than getting the game-winning hit, as he did yesterday, he led off the bottom of the 9th with a triple.  Ultimately, Heath was driven in on a single by second baseman Ray Mack.  The Indians have no won three in a row and are 9-1 in their last 10 games.

-          Yankees centerfielder Joe DiMaggio stays white hot, blasting two solo home runs (his second and third on the season) and driving in three runs on the day, as the Yankees picked up a 4-2 win over the Tigers.  That makes six straight wins for the Yankees and moves their season record to an incredible 17-5.

-          Cardinals left fielder Don Padgett had quite a day at the plate in Boston, going 4-5 with a home run and two doubles, driving in five runs along the way.  With the win the Cardinals move to 13-6 on the year and have a half game lead over the Dodgers.  The Braves, meanwhile, fall to 7-12 and have lost eight straight.

-          A classic was played at the Polo Grounds today.  The Cubs led the Giants 3-2 going into the bottom of the 9th, but the Cubs had decided to pinch-hit for starter Claude Passeau in the top of the inning and now brought on reliever Jake Mooty.  On his first pitch of the inning, Giants star Mel Ott blasted it into the seats to tie the game.  It was then Ott that came up in the bottom of the 13th, with two men on, and smacked a walk-off three-run home run for the 6-2 win.
