-          In Philadelphia, the Browns' Chet Laabs and Walt Judnich went back to back in the St. Louis Browns’ 8-2 route of the Athletics.

-          In Boston today, the Red Sox routed the White Sox, with Joe Cronin driving in five runs and going a perfect 3-3 on the day with two walks.

-          Tigers’ centerfielder Pat Mullin hit a grand slam in the top of the 8th inning to cap a five-run inning for Detroit and to give the Tigers a 7-6 lead.  The Tigers couldn’t hold the lead, however, as the Senators got a run in the bottom of the 9th to send it into extra innings.  In the bottom of the 11th, Senators’ second baseman Jimmy Bloodworth hit a walk-off single for an 8-7 Washington victory.
