-          Joe DiMaggio continues his monster season and is on course to run away with the RBI title – today he drove in six runs, bringing his season total a staggering 44.  He finished the day 3-5 with a home run and a double and the Yankees scored 16 runs as a team!

-          Jimmie Foxx turned back the clock today in Boston, continuing his outstanding season and showing glimpses of years past when he was arguably the best hitter in baseball.  “The Beast” smacked his first two home runs of the season and driving in four runs.  The Red Sox beat the Tigers 5-3 to move to 14-12 on the year.

-          Dodgers starter Whit Wyatt pitched his eighth complete game of the season and his third shutout in beating the Cubs 7-0.  Wyatt allowed four hits and struck out four while improving to a perfect 8-0 on the year.  He has arguably been the best player in baseball this season, leading the National League in wins, ERA, WHIP, strikeouts, complete games, shutouts, and innings pitched.

-          For the second straight day in Cincinnati, third baseman Chuck Aleno was the star, hitting a walkoff triple to score two runs and help the Reds beat the Braves 6-5. After driving in five runs yesterday, Aleno followed up today going 3-5 with two RBI.
