- With a 2-2 tie in the bottom of the 5th inning, Red Sox starter Joe Dobson tried to lay down a sacrifice but to get the runner on first into scoring position. Instead, he fouled off the first two attempts and then decided to swing away…. only to then blast a two-run home run and give Boston a 4-2 lead. The Red Sox proceeded to score four more runs that inning and never looked back in route to an 11-6 win over the Philadelphia Athletics.
